This is the rough discussion of what we talked about–merely the broad strokes of the conversation. It catalogues how thoughts transition without showing all of the transitions completely. Enjoy!

+We began by discussing the Takezo’s WordPress app http://ios.wordpress.org/

-Thought catalogue blog was recommended on Takezo’s reader http://thoughtcatalog.com/

-The importance of having a blogging community that you know as your readership.

-Rebecca Blood’s blog post and the differences of different types of blogs, and how they have developed from links with commentary to personal diary blogs to news related blogs.http://rebeccablood.net/essays/weblog_history.html

-CPT Finally got an RSS feed- http://netnewswireapp.com/

+Talked about Takezo’s MLK Jr. break (He watched Leave it to Beaver)http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0050032/

+Talked about overview of Takezo’s grape scholarship,

-Department of Agriculture is funding large multi-university study to make a super grape. Takezo’s professor is studying the socio-economic effects. Takezo is in charge of filling in the website for this from a PDF file proposal of the economic impact. Takezo’s page is empty though the link is right here. http://vitisgen.org/Construction.aspx

-CPT Thinks that they are messing with God by creating mutated super grapes.

Vitis is the latin word for Grape

+Discussed free movie night (which Takezo will not be attending)

-CPT is going to see “Gangster Squad” http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1321870/?ref_=sr_1

-Discussed moral implications of vigilantism http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vigilante

+Talked about Takezo’s study of the Quran (He’s a religion major)

books of the Quran are called Surah’s

-Idolatry is putting anything up with God, people, concepts, ideas,

“even fear is idolatry” -Takezo

+Talked about CPT’s history class “Death and Dying in America” and the Wendat people’s fear of death, http://www.death-and-dying-in-early-america.com/

“Your first experience with death is people you know and love… is gone, for all intents and purposes that person doesn’t exist anymore, and this causes you to contemplate the time when you no longer exist anymore” CPT.

-It would be interesting to look at the effects of Origin stories on people’s opinions of death throughout history and civilizations.

-Takezo revealed his desire to keep his children cut off from any mention or viewing of dogs to the point at which dogs seemed to his children as mythical as unicorns, if they had any knowledge of them at all,  and then introduce them to a dog in their teens.

-CPT used the word fish 9 times consecutively

-“the first guy to see a platypus… mind blown… just bill and eggs and fur.” Takezo

+Radio-Lab discussion of colors and how not being told a color effects children ability to see that color. http://www.radiolab.org/2012/may/21/

-Wether you could see a color you’ve never seen before, or describe it rather.

+Discussion of “Tangled” and a discussion of how you would view the outside world if you had never had any exposure. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0398286/

-Plato’s Cave analogy, in which someone was only shown shadows of the real world. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allegory_of_the_Cave

-This is a somewhat similar idea to C.S. Lewis describing that he knows God because by God’s light he can see everything else.

-We then questioned wether your mind could create things it had never experienced.

+Takezo told us about his Biblical Literature class in which he is discussing the difference between intrinsic (literal) analysis and extrinsic (in context) analysis.

-Discussion of genealogies and their importance in our lives which brought up a reference to “Google Me” a movie about someone who found everyone with his name.http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1176730/

-CPT is related to a person who may have made boots for Abraham Lincoln.

-Takezo’s family has a stadium/building at a college somewhere named after them.

+We then Discussed the actual legend of Atlantis in relation to a documentary that Takezo had recently rented from the library.

+Next we discussed Freud’s influence in making cocaine popular which he felt so guilty about that he would find libraries and remove that fact from his bibliography.

“How can a guy who spent so much time face to face with sex, look so gloomy?” Takezo, paraphrasing Raymond Loewy.http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Sigmund_Freud#Quotes_about_Freud

+How werewolves represent the monster in us all, in that either society kills our animal or we realize our danger and kill ourselves.

-Takezo added the idea of generational werewolves representing industrialism and war and communism and self reliance through their different personal characteristics.

-It was then revealed that Takezo plans to be a devious college professor. http://thoughtsbytakezo.wordpress.com/2013/01/24/my-idea-for-teachers/

+We then began discussing people refusing to take responsibility for their actions, and then transitioned to a Kierkegaard proposal to only talk about things which would retain importance in fifty years.

-This brought up the three types of conversations

1: People (not long term)

2: Events (semi long term)

3: Ideas (nearly eternal)

http://levechad.blogspot.com/2011/10/three-levels-of-conversation.html

-We then brought up the idea of a values continuum, in which you are presented with an ethical situation and you must decide wether you agree or disagree with the statement.

-An adjunct professor of the opposite sex asks you to dinner after class

Takezo- It’s obviously situational but I would come down more on the disagree side.

CPT- Agree because there is nothing inherently wrong as the situation is presented though it has high possibilities for trouble.

-A sophomore and his roommate after finals get intoxicated in their apartment

T- Agree, theres nothing inherently wrong with that, I mean I wouldn’t do it…

C- Exactly

-A professor gives you a 94 but upon review you discover you actually got a 64, you decide not to tell the professor.

T- Disagree

C- Disagree

-“I’m pretty sure I’d choose slavery, That doesn’t sound that bad… all in all… after awhile I might get tired of it.” -CPT
