We’re reading from Harun Yahya’s The Basic Concepts of the Quran in my Quran class. He makes a point in the chapter on idolatry that really caught my eye.

Fear is idolatry.

It hadn’t occurred to me, but it makes a lot of sense. If the believer fears, then the believer is thinking that something out there is more powerful than God, which is a big no-no in most religions and especially in Islam.

There’s a bit of this in Christianity, too. Jesus says not to worry about things, except God, that is.
